GREENPORT
I am a big fan of this sleepy little coastal town. there is only one marina here and finding your way around is very easy.
little creek oyster farm
At the end of the dock is a small shack with a Bait/Tackle sign. This is the Little Creek Oyster Shuck Yourself Shop. I have purchased their Oysters and some they offer from other local Oyster Farms. The quality and freshness of all the oysters where top noch and my Charter guests loved them. The friendly couple who own the shop are happy to tell you all about their oysters. (ask about the history of the building)
THE LATHAM FARM STAND
Last time I was in Greenport this was the medium sized outdoor produce stand just in town across the street from the IGA. they had a nice selection of fresh produce, lettuces and flowers. It is cash only which is a pain but the quality make it worthwhile. Open daily from May-November.
Alice's fish market
This is a great no frills fish monger who gets the majority of their product from the local fisherman. This is probably your best bet for fresh or specialty ordered seafood in Greenport.
iga greenport
This IGA is located at 101 South Street Greenport, NY 11944
This IGA had all the dry goods I needed as well as some of the produce and fruit not available at the farmstand. I would stay away from the seafood as it all appears frozen. The butcher can and will do specialty orders and cuts of beef and pork for you if you give them a heads up. A ten spot goes along way to getting cooperation as well. Although I don't remember them offering delivery I do recall them letting me just load up and take a couple of shopping carts to the marina and down the dock. we did return themlater in the day.
Keep your eyes open for the scallop boats on the dock. with a little persuasion you might convince them to sell you a small batch of fresh off the boat in-shell scallops for a bit of cash...
Little Creek Oyster Stand
The market
This shop has a small selection of organic produce, vitamins, personal care and gluten free foods.
salamander's on front
Last time I was in Greenport I stopped in here some mornings for a coffee and Croissant. They also carry some grass fed and free range meats, long island duck and fine cheeses.
the blue duck bakery cafe
The ladies at Blue Duck where a friendly group who where able to get me a croissant, pastry and bread order put together in just a couple of days. If you don't have that much time they do carry a nice selection of pastries and breads on site. This bakery is located within a 2 minute walk from the marina.
